I am a quilter and when I was diagnosed with a recurrence of Breast Cancer (then Stage IV), my friends made me a surprise healing quilt.  The quilt was made of blocks upon which my friends and family had written notes to me.  This quilt was really useful when I was getting chemotherapy as the infusions made me cold! I took it with me to the treatment room and it helped keep me warm both from knowing the love that these people had for me and to keep me physically warm.

Quilting can also be theraputic to get yourself through the aftermath of a cancer diagnosis.  I thought I'd like to share some with you.

http://www.sacredthreadsquilts.com/  The Sacred Threads Quilt exhibition happens every two years, and it just closed for 2009.  However this is the website which shows the quilts and the artist statements.  Some of the quilts you might find difficult to look at.

I've reviewed a couple of them here, that might be of interest to you as well.

I think you'll find the ones I reviewed to really strike a chord.  They certainly did with me, and I find a validating experience to know that others feel the same way I have.
