Chemo #2 & Neulasta Injection

By brenda's journey Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Hello everyone. Just wanted to give an update on my status.  Last week I had chemo #2 and then took the neulasta shot the next day.  For the first two days I was sick and crying but then, miraculously, I felt so good that I actually didn't need any anti-nausea pills or any vicadin.  I've been off both for 3 days and am feeling great.

So now I am planning to start back to work today, part-time and with limitations. But I am so happy to be getting out of this house!!!!! Just to be around people - yeah!!!!

My hair was falling out faster than I could catch it so I shaved it last week.  I'm doing the wig and hat thing. I am definitely not a fan of the wig. It's too itchy and too hot!!!! Wow - it's nice to have such little things to complain about.Embarassed

YOu are all in my thoughts and prayers.  I hope you are doing well and taking one day at a time.

How are you holding up? I hope you are well!

Just wanted to know if you washed your wig before you wore it? It helps with the itching. And also, wear a stocking cap under it, not the fishnet kind. It really helps. Also, rub lots of moisturizer on you head at night and wear a cuddly hat to bed. that will keep your scalp nice and soft and your baby hair coming in pretty and shiny.

I  hope that helps. I wear my wigs pretty loose because the elastic band squeeze too hard and gives me a headache. See if you can adjust your bands to be tight or loose and it may feel better on your head. I al so glad the Nuelasta was not too hard on you! What a relief!

Love Peggie.

Hi Peggy,

Yes I did try washing them first. I finally borrowed a couple from the MAC unit I get my chemo from and they fit perfectly. No itchy scalp either!!!!!

I'll try the lotion and the hat at night.  You're right I do want my new hair coming back in soft and beautiful!!!!

Hope you are doing better too.  I read your posts and can't help but share in your pain.  You're sounding better so hopefully that's a good sign.

Take care of yourself.

Brenda

Just thinking about you. How are you doing and how are the chemo's treating you? You must be almost done now. Feel better soon and write about it! I love reading everyone's posts.
