concerned daughter

I have a mother who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, She does not tell me too much about what is going on, but I know she will have surgery, not known if she will have partial breast removal or full, I do know that she has been instructed to receive radiation for 6 weeks after.

I guess my question is what determines chemo rather that radiation or vis versa. I also know that she was told she was anemic (in her blood)-what impact does that have going into surgery? Any information will greatly help, I also know that she has cancer, also not known what stage, in both breasts. Thank you.
