Today I learned that Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer. I wish her the best as she starts treatment and wanted to share this message, which I sent her through the ABC Web site:

Robert Frost once said, "The best way out is always through." From what I can sense about you, Robin, is that that will be the winning attitude you will use to help you through your battle with breast cancer.

You do not need anyone to tell you how important your mind set is as you start out your fight. I do want to echo that your grace, courage, strength, and humor will be invaluable as you move forward.

I have no doubt you have a great support system in place.

As President of Men Against Breast Cancer, we educate and empower men to be there for the women they love. It is a vital role to have someone there with you to hold your hand, to laugh and cry with. Nobody should ever face this alone.

My family was there for my Mom in 1992 as she was always there for us. Today she is my inspiration for my work as a breast cancer advocate. I wish you Godspeed. And, remember that faith does not get you around trouble it gets you through it.
