Early yesterday morning, I got an email from one of the heads of my company (big, burly guy) saying I had to listen to this radio broadcast about breast cancer and young women.
It's the NPR interview of Jessica Queller, the author of Pretty is What Changes, a book that came out yesterday and chronicles Jessica's decision to have a prophylactic or "just in case" (or before you have breast cancer) double mastectomy, after she learned she had the BRCA-1 gene mutation.
I haven't listed to it yet -- The Queller interview is 7 minutes long, and I'm just getting my earphones ready.

I'll post more, after I have listened to the interview. If you already heard it on NPR, let me know what you think. Or, if you have read Pretty is What Changes or parts of the book, post a comment and tell us your thoughts!
Beth Brophy, a journalist and breast cancer survivor who has written about her cancer experience for MyBreastCancerNetwork.com, published a nice Q&A for US News & World Report about the book: Mastectomy Before Breast Cancer: One Woman's Choice
Laura Zigman, who has been chronicling her experience after a double mastectomy here on MyBreastCancerNetwork.com, will be writing a review about Pretty is What Changes this week.
UPDATE: Here is Laura's post: "Pretty Is What Changes - Choosing Double Mastectomy Before You Even Have Cancer."
