It ain't the doin'; it's the doggone waitin' that gets to me. I had the left side mastectomy, am feeling great, recovering great. Blessed news for me, the lymph nodes are not involved. I am all set to have my four rounds of chemo, blow people away with great and different wigs, the whole nine yards.

Then, it happens. We get the pathology report back from the mastectomy tissue. Not only was there another full 1 cm sized lump (invasive ductal) but the breast is full of dcis as well. In fact cancer showed up in all four quadrants.

The MRI didn't reveal any of the addition cancer spots. It only revealed what was left over from the initial biopsy. It wouldn't seem like a big deal since the breast is already gone and lymph nodes aren't involved, except I have multiple lumps in the right side as well.

Since MRI didn't reveal a cancer signature for any of the right side lumps, all the doctors (including the second opinion oncologist) gave me the "all's clear" on the right.

NOW however, we have to question the results of the mri on the right side. Personally, I won't be comfortable until they (at the very least) needle aspirate some of the right side tissue and look at it under a microscope.

My oncologist is out of town. His PA is reviewing the records this morning and will give me a call back to discuss everything. Even assuming she is willing and able to order a biopsy, I get to wait until it's scheduled, wait until the results come back, wait - wait - wait.

I truly believe I would handle this whole situation a lot better if it weren't for the doggone waitin'.

So I'm going to lunch and eating french fries while I wait..... Gotta enjoy every moment.

Be well everyone-
