OK - Hair loss I can handle. Since my scalp hurts and pubic hair has already thinned, I'll assume the handfuls of head hair are on their way out. Tired isn't fun either, but managable so far. Mouth sores cleared up with the drugs.
But no salad bar? This is the point ...

Hey, funny you should mention that

Monday, December 03, 2007 at 06:24 PMPoteet, I DID just have hot lettuce with ranch dressing. Inadvertently... I made myself a salad, then decided to have some leftover sliced London broil with it, so sliced the meat onto the plate and popped it into the microwave to heat the steak - uh,chemobrain? - and of course the lettuce heated right along with the steak. It wasn't TOO bad,so long as I could close my eyes and visualize it as creamed spinach rather than hot lettuce with hot ranch dressing!! Seriously, though, maybe you should get some of that antibacterial fruit/veggie wash? Because you should definitely keep upwith the fruitsand vegetables, they're so good for you. Bananas and oranges and those wonderful Christmas clementines you peel anyway;it's the pears and apples you need to watch out for, I guess, huh? I gotta say, you "chemo newbies" are experiencing a lot more "high tech" stuff than I did 6 yearsago -backthen, we only got our bloodwork right before each infusion, not in between. No such thing as neulasta or anything like that. It was pretty much "stay out of crowds and try to stay healthy." Best of luck to you, Poteet - waiting for you hair to fall out is aggravating,I know, but once it does that'll be another HUGE hump you're over- take care- PJ

Hi Poteet,
Ah yes, no salad bars - frustrating indeed. Here's a couple articles (from our oh-so-experienced PJ Hamel, of course) to help you:
