Well, this weekend the fall-out began in ernest. Everytime I turned around I had left another hunk-o-hair behind. It was on my towels, my clothes, my kitchen counter, and the final straw, in my food. I am something of a control freak upon occasion. So, I took control. I went and had the remai...

I didn't like my wig at first--too scratchy.  I was also afraid to wash it because I had no confidence in my ability to style it.  As it turned out, once it had been washed a couple of times, it was much less scratchy and actually looked better.  I have also heard of people taking their wig to their own hairstylist to get it cut to look more like their own hair.  I went mainly scarves and caps when I started chemo in May, but when winter set in, I liked the warmth of the wig once I got rid of the scratchiness.

Poteet, I'm betting you have a BEAUTIFUL head.Isn't it neat to see the shape of your head, without the hair shielding anything? and to run your hands over its baby smoothness? I wore a baseball cap for awhile, but kept bumping into doorframes, so asked the folks I workwith if they minded seeing me bald. They said go for it, so I did-went bald indoors, and since it was winter (I finished in November, live in NH where the temp. can get to -25°F), wore a nice snug hat outside. By spring I had some fuzz, almost enough to look like I was doing the Sinead O'Connor look. I won't say "enjoy" not having hair - but remember it. You'll only go through this once!!!! Believe it-PJ
