On scarves, wigs and hats

Well, this weekend the fall-out began in ernest. Everytime I turned around I had left another hunk-o-hair behind. It was on my towels, my clothes, my kitchen counter, and the final straw, in my food. I am something of a control freak upon occasion. So, I took control. I went and had the remainder shaved off.

The rather youngish hairstylist blinked when I said shave it off. She was really reluctant. She even started with a guard on the shaver. Then asked if that was close enough. Imagine one inch spikes splattered with patches of total baldness. Nope, not short enough. So, off with the clipper guard and off with my hair.

I actually feel better. My scalp has stopped stinging. I think the weight was making it tender. I am no longer leaving a trail whereever I go. Or, if I am, at least it's short enough that it doesn't require someone to trail along behind me with a shopvac.

I have a few scarves. I can tell I'll need more. I have a really cool hat and scarf set. The hat has a flap that comes down and covers my ears!

I have one wig and was loaned three others. I don't like the wig look on me. It seems like too much hair to be realistic - and I have (had) a lot of hair. Seems like I'll be a hairless, wigless, scarve-wearing woman for a few months. There are worse things,,, like having hair fall into your lunch. Don't come between me and my food. It makes me cranky.

Bought my own veggies and the anti-bacterial spray. I can give up the salad bars, but I can't give up my salads. Still haven't gotten brave enough to try the cooked lettuce yet. I am truly impressed by the cooked spinach analogy though. That is really creative thinking. GO GIRL.

Second round of chemo is set for this Friday, assuming my blood levels are okay. I'm feeling okay right now, but have a couple of things I'd like to get done before the next infusion - like vacuuming.

Be well everyone.
