Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Lumpectomy Aborted Yesterday: New discovery while on gurney.

By Peglove Saturday, October 24, 2009

I am so worried that my Hubby will find the end of his rope and say..okay, that's it for me. This is your cancer, so this is your problem. And the tragic play in the recesses of my mind begins...and the fears swirl in my head like a Charybdis pool of horrific events yet to come. I am the small schooner fighting to stay afloat---no match against the power before me.

Snap out of that. Focus. Forward motion is the key. I can live without my breasts. I just have to get used to the idea.

Monday they will do the 2nd biopsy on the sternum-side tumor. If positive...we got issues. If negative..we got the same issue as before.

The same...or worse! Yay me. Well. We can't win 'em all, Ladies.

And as Phyllis said, "Cancer is tricky, for sure!"

Thank you or all the Best Wishes and awesome messages you have sent me!

UndecidedKeeping you posted. Love and Hugs,

Peggie.

Peggie - do you feel like the ball in a pinball machine? Tha's exactly what it feels like sometimes, getting batted from one side to the other, no control over where you're going... But then, that's cancer. Yes, it sucks. Yes, it's hard. And we WILL survive. Be SURE, either way, to ask about a nipple-sparing mastectomy - yes, they can do that, where they just scoop out your breast tissue and leave the skin and nipple, putting an implant in. I know, maybe too much to think about rifght now - but since you say you're a person who likes to be in control, stick this in the back of your mind just in case, OK? Safe travels - wherever this trip may take you... PJH
