I am now two days out from the "torture table " biopsy. So far, this is the worst pain I have ever been in. It's a very specific pain. I could move my arm a little. I made the bed with one arm, then I tried to turn on the light, and "OUCH!" DO not lift the ARM UP!!!!
It does not like that right now. I am really tired because I haven't slept a full night. I keep waking up in the middle of the night. I want to turn over and sleep on my tummy. I have always slept this way. Or curled up on my left side like a baby. Can't do that either. But when you're asleep and with newfound pain...your body forgets. So I turned over in the middle of the night, and "OUCH!" Waking my husband to screams and moans is not fun...especially when he has to work at 6 am (and the screams and moans are not from pleasure...heehee)
I am sleeping on my back for the first time in all my life. It is so hard to do. I put a pillow under my arm and one under my legs...I never realized how hyper-extended your knees can get when you sleep on your back. I am trying to half-turn onto my left side. I wonder how long after my surgery I will be able to curl up onto my tummy and sleep. Right now, that is what I really miss.
Trying to take a nap at 11 am...g'night.
Love Peg

You'll probably soon be able to go back to your comfy sleep position. Some women find sleeping in a recliner works well for them right after surgery. Your idea of tucking in pillows for extra support is a good one too. I found several little squishy pillows seemed to work better for me than one big one.
Thanks for the tips!
I slept on my side last night! I will try again tonight! the little pillos really are better than big ones!
I am scheduled for my lumpectomy on Friday. Wish me big luck! I just want nothing, and I mean NOTHIG to go wrong this time.
Peg.
I hope the surgery goes well. I'm sending my wishes for a speedy recovery.
