Last Night's Dinner: after path report

Nov. 17, 2009

Dear Friends and Family,

Dr. Shen did her very best to introduce us to the best news on the path report first. But being scheduled for 5 pm at her office, I sort of knew something bad was going to happen.

I woke up the night before (my facebook friends can attest...) and I was awake at 2 am...writing, and reading and watching cold case files, and Law and Order. I stayed awake until 5 am. Thinking...

The bad news is, they didn;t get all the cancer. They gotta go back in and get a spot they missed. The other bad news is, they found some microscopic cancer in my lymph nodes, so 4 to 6 rounds of...

Visitors, cards, food and friends: Looking Forward

This last week, I had so many visitors. Many friends came by and hung out and talked. I got to spend quality time with my girlfriends that I haven't seen in years.

Everytime someone leaves, I think,"wow, why do we wait until something bad happens to spend time?"

On the other hand, I get what Sandi (?) said about people completely avoiding the subject and even the idea of coming over...like they will catch the cancer! So...

Lumpectomy Success!

Hello Sisters,

with one hand, i will tell you the short version....lump went well! my surgeon was confident they got clean margins around it. She took out the sentinel node and the next one up, and they looked clean too, but no 100% until the path lab comes back with the report on Friday.

But it looks really good. The docs say mammos every 6 months for 2 years, then one a year for the rest of my life...

Tomorrows the Day! Do Not Panic! (talking to myself...)

Hi Sisters,

So I am not as ready as I was the last time I was supposed to have this surgery. I didn't do any laundry yet, but I did clean my house, grocery shop for my favorite foods, and chicken soup from Alexander's Deli.

I have someone coming on Monday and Tuesday to visit. I was told by my surgeon that the lumpectomy won't hurt nearly as much as the core biopsy I had last week. She says she will use lots of local...

ANNIHILATION ACTIVATE: Scheduled for Friday NOV6, 8 a.m...again....

So the lumpectomy from Oct 29, was cancelled because they found a strange shaped growth in my breast, which they biopsied and it turned out to be nothing. Good. Whew. But still mad. And now very nervous because I already know what I am in for since my dress rehearsal on that day included an IV drip, nuclear isotope localization injection, and a rauchetty old nurse that was so mean, she turned out to be the worst thing about my experience at the...

Hello All,

So I have been taking little bird baths and using baby wipes since my 2nd biopsy. I am glad that the biopsy was clear for cancer..but now I have this huge gash in my breast and it does not look like it is closing.

I was very surprised they only gave me an icepack and no meds. My doc said to take Tylenol..no Aleve or advil because they thin your blood and to ice it for days (1 hour on 1 hour off) until it feels...

Ouch! This way and that way: Sleeping on my back for the first time

I am now two days out from the "torture table " biopsy. So far, this is the worst pain I have ever been in. It's a very specific pain. I could move my arm a little. I made the bed with one arm, then I tried to turn on the light, and "OUCH!" DO not lift the ARM UP!!!!

It does not like that right now. I am really tired because I haven't slept a full night. I keep waking up in the middle of the night. I want to turn over and sleep on my...
