Second Opinion

Just got back form Beth Israel. It was a long appointment and we decided to make a day out of it. We rode the bus to avoid the horrible traffic into the city and that was a great idea. There is a Metro Station just a few blocks away and it was a gorgeous day so walking was very pleasant. I first met with the radiation oncologist who examined me, went over my history and then left to meet with the rest of the time to have...

Decisions, decisions

I met with the Medical oncologist today. Lots of new information. At least I know what chemo's going to be like. I know I have a year of chemo ahead of me. It could be before and after surgery if I go with a lumpectomy or after surgery only if I decide I want a mastectomy.

It seems like if I decide to go with a mastectomy, it would be best to do it at Beth Israel since they do state of the art DIEP reconstruction. It's a much...

Moving Along, chemo before surgery?

Hi:

Went ot see my surgeon today and review all the information we now have and discuss treatment alternatives. She went over all the tests and offered another option we hadn't yet considered. She said since I'm now again a good candidate for a lumpectomy I should consider the alternative of starting chemotherapy right away before having surgery. The advantage of that is that if the tumor responds well to chemo, I...

Good news

So today I went for an ultrasound of my lymph nodes with the understanding that I might have a biopsy as well depending on what they found. The MRI had shown an enlarged lymph node. However today they found nothing so I didn't have to have another biopsy. I was able to go to my aquerobics class which was great. I had asked the people at the Breast Care Center to help me schedule a second opinion consult and I got a call...

Hi:
