Ho… ho… ho.Happy holidays? Whether you’re in the throes of breast cancer treatment, battling lasting side effects, or simply haven’t yet recovered your verve for life, the holidays can be a challenging time. Maybe you’re someone who loves the holidays, but is strugglin...
Wonderful suggestions, PJ. It is so important to recognize that we can't do everything. Concentrating on the parts of the holiday ritual that give us the most joy makes sense. Skip the decorations, but make the cookies if you like to bake. Pull out your treasured decorations and buy the cookies if you hate the baking. Invite your friends over to do it all while you supervise from the sofa if you are still weak from treatment.
I also heartily concur with your suggestion to seek medical help for depression if there are no moments of joy in your day. The physical and emotional toll of cancer can lead to depression, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
