Saturday, February 09, 2008 at 06:43 PMSo sorry aboout your having to undergo this cancer journey, Hazel. I'm not a doctor, and would never presume to offer specific information regarding anyone's personal diagnosis. My suggestion is you talk to your oncologist, or his nurse, or a social worker connected with the breast cancer program at the place you're being treated. They'll be able to talk to you much better than I about your prognosis. That said, stay positive. Cancer is a rock in the path- step over it. The path will still be there. And you'll have many hands reaching out to help you as you step- PJH

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 05:34 AMHi P J Hamel,
I am Rasika from India. My mother is suffering from Breast Cancer and she has gone through Surgery where her breast has been removed and the radiation therepy. Now she is going through Chemotheorepy. She has completed 4 chemos and she is well now. I also want to admitt that she has one lump in her breast and the other one in her joint of arm. Whenever I discuss this topic with others no one tell me that cancer can be cured and they start giving examples of others that no one could be cured from cancer, it comes again after some period. Doctrors do not admitt that but they don't speak much about her health to me as they think that I am not the person to tell anything because of my age.
Doctor, I belong to a lower middle class Indian family and I don't know much about the disease. Please Doctor tell me whether she will not have the cancer back again. She is nearly 48 of years and her menopose is over. I am so much confused. Will she be able to recover and not has such pain again in future? Pleaaaaaas reply me soon.
Yours
RASIKA

Hi, your article was very hopeful for people with DCIS, having a good cure rate, but please tell me, is that cure rate the same for people like me who have DCIS HIGH GRADE WITH NECROSIS. I have four young children and a very sick husband and have just had a lumpectomy for DCIS and am absolutely petrified of what the outcome may be.
Thank you in anticipation.
