I really don't think it is any one's business what another person chooses to do in this situation. Each individual's choice is highly unique and very personal. I had to make the same decision last year and it is of no consequence to anyone what I chose to do. I find it very distasteful to hold a forum on what people think about someone elses choice. Unless you have walked in her shoes, or anyone elses who has had to cross this road, you have no idea what you will do.
Thanks for your thoughts. I agree, it's a very personal choice, and I did say that. I think perhaps a forum like this might actually help other women who have to make this choice, so I disagree with you, that we shouldn't be free to air our views here. Many of us have faced this choice; and I hope the many who come after us find some help here. Thanks again for connecting- PJH
I chose a bilateral mastectomy, after the second diagnosis in my left breast, that had been seen on an MRI my surgeon ordered post chemo for cancer to the right. It was such a shock, to have a second dx right on top of the first. I am not good when having to wait for test results, and I had visions of me climbing the wall after each mammogram, had I chosen to keep my breasts. I certainly admire Christina Applegate, being as young as she was, I was 55 at diagnosis, and feel, for me, this made my decision that much easier. For me, this was the best decision I could have made.
... this was beautifully written, and informative.
Quite a challenging decision to have to make. Thanks so much for connecting - PJH
