    Hi judyw,

Thank you for writing. Dr. Knopf shared his thoughts on your questions in this post on HRT and breast cancer rates. Hope this helps and that other survivors will add their thoughts.

    Judy,

You ask a common question, one that has haunted the minds of millions of women. Here's some related information I thought you'd find helpful:

I was on HRT for 2.5 to 3 years and took myself off due to concerns about its safety. My doctor put me on it for bone health as I am very thin and small boned. I was not having menopausal symptoms. April '08 I was diagnosed with estrogen receptor + breast Ca. I have very few risk factors other than HRT and dense breast tissue. Since my risk factors are low and I have eaten healthy all of my life, I am assuming HRT contributed significantly to my development of breast Ca. The clinker is that HRT did not protect me from osteoporosis.
