I see the fight against breast cancer targeting progressively younger and younger women, Anjali. It's terrible that women in their 20s/30s need to concern themselves with BC; but imperative that they do so. As Mark says, "It's not your mother's disease" - though I'd amend that to "It's not JUST your mother's disease; it touches us all." Thanks for sharing this - PJH

Thanks PJ. I agree with you. I think Mark was trying to say that as young women we can't wait for approval from the insurance companies to start screening - that as young women we need to know our bodies so that when we know something is amiss, we can advocate for ourselves.

The insurance companies are going to eventaully have to wake up to the fact that preventive screening is SO much less expensive than treatment - someday it might sink in. And yes, knowing your body is critical - it's what both the American Cancer Society and the Canadian equivalent of the ACS recommend, now that they've dropped their recommendation for regular self-exams (which they feel are too easily overlooked).
