About Me

I grew up in Newton, Mass., and graduated from the University of Massachusestts at Amherst and the Radcliffe Publishing Procedures Course. I spent ten years working in New York in book publishing where I was a publicist for several divisions of Random House. I'm the author of four novels -- "Animal Husbandry" (published in 1998, became a national bestseller and in 2001 the film based on the book, “Someone Like You,” starring Ashley Judd and Hugh Jackman, was released by Fox 2000); "Dating Big Bird," "Her," and "Piece of Work," which is coming out this November in paperback. I have written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and other publications, and I'm an occasional guest blogger for The Huffington Post. I also have my own blog (which I call a "brant") at www.laurazigman.com where I wrote at length about my experience last year with breast cancer. I currently live outside Boston with my husband and young son.
