Chemo #3

By purplemoonmom Tuesday, July 31, 2007

It seems a little funny to be writing about chemo round #3 today when chemo round #4 is tomorrow, but, oh well. For round #3 we tried a prescription antiemetic (Emend) to try to combat my severe nausea and vomiting. I thought we had found the miracle drug!

The day after my infusion I was feeling well enough to go out socially that Thursday night. But then Friday came and it was down hill from there. For the next five days or so I had incredible nausea but the inability to vomit. I had a terrible headache and neck ache and at one point had myself convinced I had meningitis. I couldn't eat or drink anything for days. I vowed never to take that drug again because even though throwing up is last on my list of things I like to do, the inability to vomit when needed was, for me, way worse.

Thankfully, there does come a day when you feel a little bit better. And then the day after that a little bit better than the day before. My nausea lasted longer than it had previously. It's been a slow recovery and I am probably looking at an even slower recovery from tomorrow's session.

I am so grateful to the folks that keep this site running. It has served a great need for me to tell my story and keep folks that know me (and some that don't) up to date on what's going on in my life. Mostly I've been living each day just thankful that I'm in it. Love to you all. Thanks, Laurie

Just checking in with your updates. Hopefully your final round of chemo is going a little smoother than the last 3. I know that is probably a stretch but hey, at least this is the FINAL round. Hope to hear you are feeling better soon. Love to you and the family.

Hi Laurie,

I have had you on my mind lately and wondering how you are doing.  Concerned that I had not seen your name on this website lately.

Sorry to hear you are having a lot of nausea.  Hopefully your dr. can prescribe a med that will help.

You and your family continue to be in my prayers.

        Take care and KEEP SMILING!

Take care and keep smiling. You all continue to be in my prayers.
