Because of my family history, I used to think "when I get heart disease" and I never worried about cancer at all.  Your grandmother's cancer has helped you be aware and educate yourself, but it is not destiny.  I like the way the end of your piece moved to "If I get breast cancer," not "when."

We've been fortunate to have you always there with supportive comments and pertinent links to helpful articles.  Best wishes to you in your new endeavors.

Maria, I hope you NEVER need the help that this site offers—because you never have breast cancer. But if you do, you know we'll be here for you. Thanks for all of your heartfelt comments to posts, and the help you've offered here to so many of us by providing links, words of wisdom, and a friendly voice.
