Hi Everybody!!
I feel like time is just flying by! Coming in every Friday for chemo does seem to make it go faster. I remember back when this all started thinking six months was a lifetime! Six months of chemo - a year of herceptin...wow, that will take forever! Well, after today, I only have 3 more chemo (Taxol) infusions to go!! I will still have 42 weeks of herceptin - I think I go back to every 3 weeks instead of every week...whatever...the chemo part is done in 3 weeks!!!
I got to tell you, this Taxol stuff kind of sucks! The AC was hard but you could kind of brace for it...plus, I think in the beginning you're still semi healthy....after 5 mos, I think my reserves are rather low....what do they call it?? The Cumulative Effect??? I am super, super tired usually in bed by 8:30pm or so...sometimes take naps on the weekends. The body aches, shortness of breath...whine, whine, whine....but the worst is the neuropathy...honest to God. Take a bunch of marbles, tape them to your feet and then walk around....I am seriously in tears by the time I'm done grocery shopping. I've done pretty well through this whole thing and haven't complained too much. But this really is unbearable. The doctor backed off on the Taxol a bit and gave me some Loritabs for the pain...I can't take them during the day...they make me too drowsy and dopey so I only take them at night...
But...enough of that negative sh__! Only 3 more to go!! Boy, is that exciting....Remember back when I started this whole cancer thing, I got to go on a Caribbean Cruise and went cliff diving (holding my nose and my prosthetic boob- I was just loosing my hair)?? (Read my old shareposts to catch up if needed!) Anyway, talk about coming full circle....my best friend just won a 4 day trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico through her job....and she invited me to go with her to celebrate the end of chemo - I actually will have to move my last session for this trip. Well, now I had to get more "head wear"! I went and got one of those retro swim caps with the flowers all over! It is so hilarious! I love it....not sure I'll be up for any cliff diving this time. In fact, I probably won't be up for much with all the side effects I'm having...and I'm turning a wonderful shade of "orange" with all the fake suntan lotion I'm using. But it was 25 below zero last night here in Northern MN - I'm sure we'll find something to do or even better...not do... in beautiful - sunny- warm Puerto Vallarta!!
It has been really wonderful to have something to look forward to. I will be bringing the pink wig along even though it doesn't really go with my orange skin...I need to find those head tattoos...
Hope you all are doing well....I'll go check the shareposts!!
Take Care,
Koponen (Sandy)
