Hello, my name is Mika. I started a free wig program for women suffering from hair loss caused by cancer treatments and alopecia. I decided to start this program based on the need for a good replacement for a woman's real hair. My first client was my little cousin who lost all her hair due to ovarian cancer. She went to her prom with a bald head because she would rather go to prom bald than wear one of those "ugly wigs" from a cancer wig store. After finding out she wanted a nice wig but couldn't afford it, I decided to get her a beautiful natural looking wig. She loved her wig so much that she wears her wig even after her hair has grown back.
Since this experience I took a class and became a wig specialist. Now, my mission is to make these wigs accessible to women who can't afford them. Having a good wig is important for women suffering from cancer self-esteem. Once, I read that many women feel worse about losing their hair than a breast because hair loss is much more noticible.
My clients come to me, with no hair, wanting a comfortable natural wig. Basically, they want as close to their natural hair as possible. However, these type of wigs are expensive and I can only afford to give away so many. Does anyone know where I could possibly get additional funding to turn this into a larger project?
If you are interested in the wigs please go to www.pinkbarrette.org. Currently I have 2 free wig programs, 1 of which requires some volunteering. Also please share this information because every wig sold keeps me in business so that I can provide free wigs for women and girls in need. I can also take your real hair now and put it on a wig. Thank you.

I think what you're doing is great. There is a need for. Those natural looking wigs are very expensive. The wigs I had were to hot and made my head itch. It was so bad I wore a ball-cap to a formal event one night. I wish I could afford a better wig. I heard it may be covered by some insurance companies. How do I get more information on this?
Like I said if I could afford one I would get one. I think you're doing a great job because regular wigs are not a good enough replacement for real hair. I looked at your website and saw how beautiful and natural they look. Hopefully I can get on "Team Pink." Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
