Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

NON- nursing woman -Mastitis in one breast, three days after undergoing mammograms and sonograms.

I had previously asked a question at this site but I felt my title needed to be more specific about what my concerns were about. I did receive helpful information from one expert, Phyllis. I am interested to hear if any other readers have experienced a problem of developing Mastitis following undergoing a mammogram and a sonogram.

I am 51 years of age- initial mammograms/sonograms came back clear and then 3 days later I developed Mastitis in the right breast. I have always had inverted nipples so not sure if that is a factor to be more susceptible to contracting Mastitis. I am being treated with antibiotics. When about half way though my antibiotics, a repeat sonogram was done. Nurse concerned. She is not sure if new images are related to the resolving infection from the Mastitis or possibly cancer. I am just finishing up the antibiotics (10 days supply)-breast is much better but still find there is an area on breast that is warmer to touch than other areas and the breast feels a bit more lumpy than I remember. Will be starting 2nd round of antibiotics. Supposed to see nurse on Dec. 21st. In the meantime, I am really worrying about what lays ahead. I am trying to stay positive but it is difficult with so much that is unknown.
