Im a 29 year old mother of 3. I found a lump in my breast just below my nipple about a year ago. It was the size of a bb. I thought nothing of it becuase of my age. It would get smaller then bigger then about 4 months ago I decided I would have it looked at becuase it was slowly getting bigger but not shrinking again so i went to the doc and she measured it to be 2 cm. She sent me to a specialist who ordered a ultrasound but it came back as normal breast tissue. He thinks it came back as that becuase it was just under the nipple on the areola where breast tissue comes together so he wanted to do a fine needle biopsy. That was in December but becuase I did not have insurance I just put it off until I got some. So now I have it but the lump by my measurment is 4 1/2 cm or the size of a gum ball.. It is also attached to the underneth of my skin. I get the fine needle biopsy tomorrow. But I know it will take time to get the results. Any advise. Im so ready to know.

Well, you've had a tough time of it, not having insurance; but I'm glad you're finally going to figure out what this is. By "it's attached to the underneath of the skin," do you mean it moves when you move your skin around? Usually a cancerous tumor won't move like that, but stays fixed in place. Also, you say it got bigger, then smaller, then bigger... cancer doesn't do that, either. It just gets progressively bigger. Finally, you had a questionable ultrasound - one that could easily be interpreted as "no cancer," apparently, since that was the original reading. So there are a lot of things pointing to this NOT being cancer... Good luck with the biopsy. About 85% of biopsies come back negative (no cancer), so hold onto that statistic, and stay positive, OK? Thanks.... Well i can say that this lump firm and is not deep in the breast lt is just under the skin of my areola but i cannot seperate it from the skin of my areola. so it seems to be attached to it. my breat are not small so i can move the lump but i would be moving my skin nipple areola and all.
You're also exactly the right age for fibrocystic change and fibroadenomas. This is a condition that produces non-cancerous breast lumps, and it's quite common for women in their 20s-30s. At any rate, there's no telling what this is till you continue on and finish up your tests, so good luck as you complete the process. PJH
Well I had the biopsy . We did rule out cyst and it certainly is not an absess. He took 3 samples and I will go back Tuesday to find out the results... He was suprised at how much it had grown from the last visit where you had to feel for it and now he can just see it. I have read up on fibroadenoma and i hope thats what it is......
I'll be hoping right along with you. Please let us know what the results are, OK? Good luck - PJH
I hope u get good news back...please do update us...
