Phyllis, I'm known for absolutely hounding my colleagues at work to go get their annual mammograms. Here are the two excuses I hear constantly:

 

"I made the appointment and then forgot to go, and didn't ant to reschedule."

 

"I made the appointment and was too busy to keep it."

 

To which I answer:

 

"How will THAT sound when you're diagnosed with cancer and it's advanced because it wasn't found early and you're facing the possibility your kids are going to grow up without their mother?"

 

It's harsh, but it works... sometimes. Reality is, most of us don't SERIOUSLY consider the possibility of cancer until we have it. It's always "someone else" who gets it.

 

We know better, don't we?
