purple/deep red rash itchy

By leg Tuesday, February 16, 2010

I have fibrocystic in both breasts, in November of 09 I developed a deep purple/deep red rash under my left breast it had no smell but it did itch and was sensitive. It finally went away but it left a dark waxy circle under my breast, about 3 weeks ago i noticed some knots on the side and top of my left breast, now i am itching around the nipple on the left side I went to the dr he sent me for a mammogram/ultrasound they sent the results right over to my dr and i went in to talk to him he wants to send me to a surgeon for a biopsy just to make sure it is not the fibrocystic stuff. I lost my sister in march of 2009 to liver pancreas lymp node and lower abdominal cancer am i just being PARANOID???????? Oh yes since i had the mammogram i now have some knots under my left armpit

You're understandably concerned - anyone would be, having to have a biopsy. But about 85% of biopsies are negative, so hold onto that statistic, OK? You're also understandably suffering as a result of your sister's death. Just FYI, her cancer doesn't increase your risk of cancer... Worry is so difficult. All it does is make us feel bad, and doesn't accomplish a blessed thing. I hope you can get through this diagnostic process without too much pain and anxiety, and I hope things work out well for you. Best of luck - PJH

The diagnostic process is scary.  It's good that your doctor is being proactive by doing a biopsy.  Be sure to let your doctor and the surgeon know about the new knots.  I have found waiting for tests and their results to be exceptionally emotionally stressful.  It helps me to write down all my questions ahead of time and then try to stay busy with other activities that will keep my mind off the tests.  I hope you get good news.  Be persistent until you know what caused the rash and the knots.

I am interested in your outcome. Please post your results. I have had an itchy rash under my arm and I also have a large lump. I am saw the dr today and scheduling a mammogram.
