How to Survive Breast Reconstruction

Hi, my name is Angi.  For those of you that don't know me, I'm the one PJ refers to as the Reconstruction expert.  I'd hardly say that I am an expert, though I have been around the block a few times.  I'm currently 35 and a two time breast cancer survivor.  Since finding my lump I have undergone a total of 9 different... Read moreChevron

My Friend Wendy -- An Amazing Support After My Nipple Reconstruction Surgery

Everyone should have a Wendy. My Wendy -- Wendy Hurwitz -- is one of those amazing friends who is pathologically helpful. But in a good way. This opting for more invasive, radical surgery, when health-care professionals are recommending far less surgery,... Read moreChevron

More Women Opting for Double Mastectomy: Is It Justified?

A new study published this week in the Journal of Clinical Oncology online reports that the number of women opting for double mastectomies (when a single mastectomy was indicated) more than doubled between 1998 and 2003, from 4.2% to 11%. In addition, the number of women having double mastectomies when a lumpectomy was the indicated treatment rose... Read moreChevron
