Up to you, Maureen. There's no guarantee they'll get clear margins the second time, either; they usually try to cut it pretty close (literally) in order to save as much of your breast as possible, yet still eliminate all the cancer cells. My feeling is, why not make another attempt at getting clear margins, and if that doesn't work, then maybe consider the mastectomy? Unless they've already taken so much of your breast that you'd be pretty misshapen if they took more; in which case, you might consider the mastecotmy now, with reconstruction or an implant, if that interests you.
