Q: lump not showing on mammogram update

Hi

I recently posted abt. feeling a lump in my right breast and that it didnt appear on the mammogram or sono. I saw a Dr. yesterdays specialist in breasts and she did feel it also. She has asked me to repeat the mammogram which I will be having this afternoon. She says that she feels a 1/2 cm. nodule and that it SHOULD be showing on the mamogram. So she has sent special instructions for the technician who will be doing it this afternoon. I am really really freaked out, praying to God right now that everything will be ok. Thanks for all the answers, I dont know how to continue replying in my original question as I am new to the site. Thanks!

You're doing fine here, don't worry. Just keep posting questions, we'll respond. Please don't freak! One step at a time. At least you got someone to agree that they can feel something... Now they'll know where to position the camera for the mammogram. You may have an ultrasound next; you may have a biopsy. They'll want to determine if it's a cyst, a fibroadenoma... there are lots of things it can be besides cancer. Even if you get to the biopsy stage, 85% of biopsies are negative. So - take a deeeeeep breath, and think positively. Life goes on. Stay in touch, we'll want to hear from you- Good luck. PJH
