It is on the underside below the brown and it is soft. the nipple feel funny now and then.

Hi Elizabeth,
It sounds to me like you have an ingrown hair (if I understand your description correctly). It is always a good idea to get these things checked out by a doctor, though (if only so that you can relax and stop worrying).
