Q: fibrocystic disease of breast

I have lump in my left underarm since a year, it is painful during my periods. fine needle aspiration (FNAC) test diagnosed as uniform cluster of epithilial cells no lyphoid tissue seen and as fibrocystic disease of breast. Doctors suggested me to take vit E. is there any cure of this disease? am I on the risk of breast cancer? or I shall remove this lump?

I am 28 years old

Hi - This is quite common in women your age, Rajni. You may choose to have the lump removed if it's bothering you a lot. There's no "cure," other than time - most women gradually grow out of it as they get older. Does it raise your risk for breast cancer? There's mixed opinion on this. Some say no risk; some say VERY slightly elevated risk. Good luck to you - PJH
