If your mother is otherwise healthy, Marcia, she could live for years; many women with breast cancer that's metastisized to their bones do live a long time, with treatment. Only her doctor can give you a really educated guess about her specific prognosis, though, so I suggest you talk to him/her about this. Good luck to you both - PJH
