Hi everyone, my sister had double masectomy and she is almost in the last seccion of reconstruction. She already had her implants done. Just toady she went to get it ultrasounded and the specialist found smething weird in the same breast where sha had the lump first. He recommended for her to do a byopcy just to make sure is not cancer recurring....Does anyone knows what the percentage is for a recurring breast cancer after "double masectomy" is performed?? She is being under tamophicen for almost a year now....

Isabel, with most of her breast tissue removed via the bilateral mastectomy, your sister's chance of a recurrence is reduced by about 90% - though not eliminated entirely. Chances are good this is some scar tissue, or something else related to the implants. Hopefully the biopsy will give her good news - PJH
