Ive been treated for high grade non invasive d.c.i.s. with surgery twice and radiotherapy in Holland

Ive read a lot about other wimen in my situation in the u.k. where I am from and often they have had tamoxafen and or the removed d.c.i.s. is tested to see if it is hormone sensative. I asked if they would test the d.c.i.s. for hormone sensativity but they refused saying it wasnt neccesary becauce it was not yet invasive. Besides this I get a check up every year its been three years now. They take an x ray and a nurse looks and feels my breast. Im worried that they will miss something and that I should have had tamoxafen or the hormone treatment.

Wendy, I think you're not getting the treatment you should. Studies show that, if your cancer is estrogen- or progesterone-receptive, a course of tamoxifen would definitely lower your risk of recurrence — invasive or not, doesn't matter. Plenty of women in this country take tamoxifen after DCIS treatment. Is it possible for you to get another opinion somewhere? I hope? Best of luck - PJH
