What would be a reason for a doctor placing the tissue expander above the muscle verses
under the muscle?

In general, women with medium or large breasts have the expander placed under their chest muscle; while women with smaller breasts have it placed over the chest muscle. But if you're wondering about your own case, please ask your surgeon - there may be another reason. Good luck - PJH
