Topics:3D mammogram

I would like to have a check up for breast cancer. Would anyone know if 3D mammogram is available in Philippines?

If not is it available in other near asian countries like Hongkong, taiwan, australia?

If so how much does it usually cost to have this proceedure?

Sorry, I don't believe any of us could answer those questions. The only help I can give is that I know Australia is very current on breast cancer treatment and its accompanying technology... Good luck. PJH

I could not find any info for this type of procedure in the Philippines.  The only thing I could find was a hospital called St. Lukes in Manila that offers mammograms.  I would suggest contacting the hospital and ask them if it is a service they offer, or if they know of anyplace that does it.

Best of luck to you and sorry I couldn't give you more info!

I'm sorry, I spoke too soon.  I found this "Cebu Doctor's Hospital" that has a Center for Women.

According to their site they offer world class mammograms and have state of the art equipment.  Possibly they can help you furthermore.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I've checked the cebu hospital their mammogram machine is "Siemens (Mammomat 3000)" Is this a 3D mammogram?

Where do you know 3D mammogram is offered now? Is it offered in United States? which state?

Any help would be great!

Sorry but I am not a doctor, nor am I well versed in radiology equipment - so to be honest I don't know the difference or where it is offered.  I found very little info on the procedure as it is so relatively new.  I did find that Massachusetts General Hospital did a clinical trial.

I would suggest contacting the many breast cancer organizations out there to see if one can help you find the procedure in your area and get you the info you need.

American Cancer Society visit site or call 1-800-ACS-2345

National Cancer Institute visit site or call 1-800-4-CANCER

Susan G. Komen for the Cure visit site or call 800-IM-AWARE (800-462-9273).

Y-Me National Breast Cancer OrganizationTM visit site or call 1-800-221-2141

The American Breast Cancer Foundation's visit site or call 877-Key-2-Life (877-539-2543).

I know you're outside the US, but still they might offer some help as to where to turn for info or where to find the 3D mammogram.  Sorry I couldn't be of better assistance!

Thanks all for your reply and concern. I've checked them and they have digital mammography. Both in medical city and st lukes. But I'm looking for the 3D mammogram I saw in BBC. Link below:

This reply may be too late for the one asking question but might help for those interested. Years ago, I went through scintimammogram in St. Lukes, Quezon City since I didn't want to undergo the painful traditional mammogram. It is 100% painless, and much like an MRI or CT scan where one should be still for a whole 45 minutes to an hour.

You'll have an intravenous dose of radioactive tracer from the foot. And all you have to do is  lie face down with your arms above your head as your breast "shoots" unto the hollow space (think hole for the head in massage beds) and lie still as the machine scans it.

I remember I had to hold off on any solid or liquid intake at least 8 hours before the procedure. I can't remember how much it cost since the health insurance paid for it but perhaps not more than five thousand pesos.

THE TRUTH IS I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ALRedy AVAILABLE IN THE PHILS. IM NOT UPDATED. I DIDN'T TRY IT FOR MY SELF OR UBDERGO WITH IT
