Any infection can cause the body's immune system to kick in, so lymph nodes under the arm fighting an STD might lead to "lumps" under the arm that are enlarged lymph nodes. Whatever the possible causes, lumps under the arm that last longer than a week or two need to be checked out by a doctor.
