Category:MEN GET BREAST CANCERTOO

June 15 is Father's Day, why isn't there a sentence?

Why isn't there a sentence that lets people know "MEN GET BREAST CANCER, TOO" that they can click on to find out more?  More men are getting breast cancer and dieing from it.  Most people that I talk to think I am kidding when I ask them if they know men get breast cancer.  Some even laugh at me until I tell them my husband Brock died almost 4 years ago from breast cancer.  Then they ask questions, like why don't the breast cancer organizations and the news medias aren't letting people know this terrible fact.

Why is it men have to feel humiliated to think they have a "woman's disease?"

Please tell people a father that gets breast cancer can pass it on to their children.

Kriss, you've told them here. Why not do a SharePost on this subject, and post it to this site? I'm sure it's a message many people would be interested in hearing, and one certainly worth delivering - Hope Brock is doing OK now. Good luck - PJH

Kriss - most commonly when breast cancer runs in a family then all siblings are told that they are at risk for it (as I'm sure your children have been told) - at least that is the case I have been told, as well as severel other friends of mine who's mom had it or died from it.  For some getting it is just an oddity.  Cancer doesn't run in my family, I was the 1st at 31.  Cancer is common more now than ever, but is largely a "woman's" cancer.  While not as many women are dying from it as they did 10 years ago, still more women are diagnosed yearly then men - which is most likely the cause for it being more widely known to affect men.  October is Breast Cancer month.  I would suggest contacting your local American Cancer Society and see if there is something you can at least do on your local level to raise awareness, and hope that it catches on a national level.

Sorry for your loss, and best of luck to you!  It's is often we ourself who have to support our own cause, so good luck in doing so!
