Q: Dr. switching arimidex to tomoxifen.

I have been on arimidex for 3 weeks. The side effects have been debilitating and wide range from sever body pain, nausea, sleeplessness, itching and hair thinning. So my oncologist is switching me to tomoxifen. What can i expect now?

You can expect a lot fewer side effects, I hope! Tamoxifen side effects most commonly experienced are hot flashes, and weight gain. Very occasionally depression, so watch out for that. Take a look at our tamoxifen FAQS, OK? Good luck with it - PJH

I found I suffered from morning sickness after having taken Tamoxifen at night. My Doctor suggested I take it at lunch everyday ,same time with a banana. It worked .Hot flashes are a lot less also. Not sure why that should be. Only a suggestion if you have the same problem with sickness.
