Q: Ask a question...I am currently having mammosite therapy for dcis after a lumpectomy, the first three treatments were ok, but on the 4 one I had shooting pain through my breast, is that normal

Shaorn, there's no such thing as "normal" when you're having cancer treatment. Every woman will have a slightly different reaction to these aggressive treatments we're putting our bodies through. As with any side effect, you should report this to your oncologist. If the pain continues, contact the oncologist on call over the weekend; it's probably a result of the radiation, but they may want to take a look; and perhaps give you something to help with the pain.
