Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Friday, January 02, 2009 mardavon asks

Q: my breast have recently started releasing small amounts of fluid what is this?

I've noticed recently when taking a shower that if squeezed my nipples release a small amount of fluid. Does this have something to do with my diabetes or is it the beggining stages of menopause? I have type 1 diabetes and was thinking it could be hormonal

Hi - There are lots of reasons you might be experiencing some fluid leaking from your nipples; the vast majority have nothing to do with breast cancer. Read our post on nipple discharge to learn about what might be going on; and you should probably be checked by a doctor, given your diabetes. Good luck - PJH
