Many different factors can cause nipple discharge including hormonal imbalances, infection, and cancer.  Even non-breastfeeding women often have some discharge, especially if they squeeze their breasts.  Clear leakage is less likely to be a cancer symptom; however, any change that lasts longer than a menstrual period and that affects only one breast needs to be checked out by a doctor to determine exactly what is causing it.  Read this article on nipple discharge for more details.  I hope you get good news when you see the doctor.
