Could I have breast cancer???

I'm sixteen years old. About a week ago at the beginning of my period, the skin below my left nipple was itchy so I itched it.  Then, the skin that i itched turned into like a raised bump right below my nipple, kind of like a bug bite, and it was still itchy.  It's been a week and it hasn't gone away.  It's just gotten harder and has seem to have gotten pointier. I can feel that its like on the surface of my breast. Above the tissue. I'm concerned, could this be breast cancer?

No, this is not the way breast cancer starts.  It sounds like a skin issue, perhaps an allergic reaction to a bug bite.  Since it might also be an infection that needs a doctor's attention, let your mom or the school nurse take a look and help you decide if you need to consult a doctor.

Hi Jessica - First, let me tell you - this isn't a typical breast cancer symptom, and you don't have breast cancer. Please read our message to teens for information that should relieve your stress. I'm glad you're diligent about noticing change sin your breast, and it's a good habit to develop, for when you're older; but at your age, you really can pretty much put breast cancr out of your mind.

It sounds like you have a skin irritation; try treating it with cortisone cream, or your favorite anti-itch remedy, and try not to scratch. If it doesn't disappear within a week, best to see a doctor for some advanced treatment, OK? Good luck - PJH
