Q: nipple reconstruction following saline breast implants

I had a bilateral mastectomy in May (following 2 seperate unsuccessful lumpectomies).  At that time, I had tissue expanders inserted and followed up with permanent saline implants in Oct.  Now I'm considering nipple reconstruction, but don't know much about it.  Does anyone have any experience they can share with me?

Debbie, nipple reconstruction is fairly simple. It involves a local anesthetic, and probably a couple or so hours of surgery. There are various methods used - some using the skin/tissue right there on your breast, some using tissue from elsewhere on your body. Please read expert patient Laura Zigman's post on nipple reconstruction for more info. Good luck - PJH
