Q: How common is breast cancer in postmenopausal women?

Hi Mary Lou - Breast cancer is a lot more common in older women than in younger women. At age 50 (more or less menopause age), your lifetime chance of developiing breast cancer is 1 in 50, and the risk continues to increase the older you get. Hope this answers your question - PJH

I believe due to the drop in female Estrogen levels, the body doesn't cope well so it sends out wrong signals.

Extremely common.  Both I and my mother have developed postmenopausal breast cancer.
