Q: I am having Surgery after chemo. How long is the recovery time from chemo for surgery?

I am having surgery after chemo. What is the recovery time from chemo before surgery or is it blood count releated?

It's all very individual - women are at such different levels of health, going in - but I'd think they'd give you a least 2 weeks to recover from chemo before you undergo surgery. Also, you may have to wait your turn in line for a surgeon. This is a question better answered by your oncologist or his/her nurse, OK? They know more of the details of your case/condition. As PJ says, your doctor will take into account your own specific factors, but you are right to think that blood counts will play a role in the decision process.  They will not want to do surgery until your blood counts are back up to normal.
