I am having surgery after chemo. What is the recovery time from chemo before surgery or is it blood count releated?
As PJ says, your doctor will take into account your own specific factors, but you are right to think that blood counts will play a role in the decision process. They will not want to do surgery until your blood counts are back up to normal.
It's all very individual - women are at such different levels of health, going in - but I'd think they'd give you a least 2 weeks to recover from chemo before you undergo surgery. Also, you may have to wait your turn in line for a surgeon. This is a question better answered by your oncologist or his/her nurse, OK? They know more of the details of your case/condition. Best of luck - PJH
