Topics:Chemotherapy

I went to the Oncologist for the 1st time today. They said I was looking at 5months of chemo if I go with the standard and the trial treatment also :( I didn't want that long. They said they weren't sure if this trial was for me since I had cancer in both breast, that they would let me know next Wednesday. So i'm wondering what everyone thinks of trial treatments and what questions should I ask???? Thanks for any help

Hi Ms. Tiffany: Don't stress too much over the 5-month length - that's pretty typical. And it often translates into one treatment every 3 weeks or so... so the number of treatments is probably in single figures, even though 5 months seems like a long time when you're standing at the starting line.

Here's a good piece on clinical trials, and whether they're right for you:

Good luck!!! - PJH
