Hi Ms. Tiffany: Triple-negative cancers mean your cancer isn't responsive to estrogen or progesterone, which rules out hormone treatment; and that it doesn't show increased levels of the HER2-new protein, which means you can't take Herceptin, either. Basically, triple-negative cancers are treated with surgery/radiation, or surgery/chemo, with no long-term followup drugs, since none are known to work. However, Avastin is a new drug that's showing some promise with triple-negative cancers; it's just been approved by the FDA, but it's very expensive. I'd ask your doctor about it, OK? Good luck - PJH
