Q: i had a 3cm tumor removed by mastectomy.stage2 negative receptors,no lymphs involved.

is chemo still necessary? infiltrating ductal carcinoma.

If your cancer is triple negative (not hormone-receptive, not HER2+), then your oncologist will probably recommend chemo. Since it's your only safeguard against recurrence (with hormone therapy not being an option), most oncologists would urge you to go through chemo. So, "necessary" is open to interpretation; I'd think chemo would definitely lower your risk of recurrence. By how much, you'd have to ask your oncologist. And, once you know the numbers, you could use them to make an informed decision. Good luck - PJH
